India, after a gap of two years, has again become a net exporter of finished steel in fiscal year 2025-26, preliminary government trade data showed on Tuesday, April 28.
In fiscal year 2025-2026, India exported 6.6 million tonnes of finished steel, up 36 percent from last year. At the same time, total finished steel imports are estimated at 6.5 million tonnes, down 32 percent from last year, the data showed.
India's finished steel consumption stood at 164.2 million tonnes in the year, up eight percent from last year.
South Korea, China, Japan, Vietnam and Russia were the top finished steel exporters to India in the fiscal year. 2025-26.
