In early May (May 1-10) of this year, the average daily volume of crude steel production by large and medium-sized steel mills in China - all CISA members - amounted to 2.11 million tons, which is 3.6% more than at the end of April this year.
The level of reserves of large and medium-sized metallurgical enterprises in China also increased during this period. As of May 20, the stocks of finished steel of large and medium-sized metallurgical enterprises in China amounted to 18.77 million tons, an increase of 11.2 percent compared with May 10.
Against the background of lower crude steel production, inventory levels increased in mid-May, signaling lower demand from downstream users during this period.
