Brazilian cold rolled coil (CRC) exports fell in May amid falling trade with Argentina and China, according to Secex, the foreign trade secretariat of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.
In May, Secex reported that Brazil exported 3,000 tons of CRC and imported 8,600 tons, compared with 9,100 tons exported and 24,500 tons imported to April
May exports were destined for the US, with 2,700 tonnes at $823 per ton FOB shipped to CSN and Usiminas exporting 300 tonnes at $796 per ton to South America. The 67 percent decline in exports in May reflected sales to Argentina, which fell 98 percent.
May imports came from South Korea, which supplied 7,600 tons at $521 per ton, and China, which supplied 1,000 tons at $643 per ton, both FOB.
The decline in exports follows a pattern. comes after Brazil imposed anti-dumping duties on imports of CRC and coated flat products from China in February, with South Korea replacing China as Brazil
's main supplier of these products.
