The AD investigation was launched after the filing of an application by JSW JFE Electrical Steel Nashik Private Limited, the official said.
The latter argued that imports of CRGO steel and amorphous metals from four countries were entering the Indian market at unfairly low prices, harming local producers.
DGTR stated that it had found sufficient preliminary evidence indicating possible dumping and decided to study the issue in detail.
The investigation will assess whether the exporters from the respective countries supplied products below their normal cost, the extent of such price reductions and whether this caused significant damage to the Indian industry.
Electrotechnical steel is a specialized material used mainly in the production of transformer cores. Electrical steel and amorphous CRGO metals are key components for transformer manufacturers that supply equipment to energy companies, industrial consumers, and renewable energy projects.
