French seamless pipe manufacturer Vallourec has awarded a contract to marine contractor Allseas to supply seamless carbon steel line pipes and thermal insulation coating for the Atapu 2 project in Brazil's Santos Basin.
The order covers 143 km of rigid risers and flowlines, equivalent to approximately 19,000 mt of uninsulated pipes. The pipes will be produced at the Vallourec plant in Geseaba, and the thermal insulation coating will be applied at the Serres plant.
The project, managed by Brazilian energy company Petrobras on behalf of the Unitized Atapu consortium, will develop part of the offshore Atapu field, located approximately 230 km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro in deep water 2000-2350 meters. The production system will consist of 18 wells connected directly to a floating production, storage and offloading unit via rigid risers.
Vallourec said the contract demonstrates its ability to provide complete pipe and coating solutions for technically complex offshore projects, supported by its manufacturing capabilities in Brazil and thermal insulation capabilities acquired through Thermotite do Brasil.
