Australian mining company Whitehaven Coal announced that coal production at its mines ended June 30, 2026 totaled 10.73 million tons, an increase of 13% from the previous quarter, while full-year production increased by three percent year-on-year to 40.26 million tons, reaching the top the boundaries of the predicted range.
In the fourth quarter, the company increased production of coal suitable for sale. The volume of coal sales decreased by four percent compared to the previous quarter and amounted to 8.06 million tons, while sales of extracted coal in the share market fell by seven percent to 6.32 million tons. For the entire fiscal year, the managed volume of production and sales, equity increased by eight percent to 32.46 million tons and 25.98 million tons, respectively.
Queensland Whitehaven's operations produced 5.71 million tonnes of ordinary coal in the fourth quarter, an increase of 41% from the previous quarter. Following weather-related disruptions recorded in the previous quarter, production at the company's facilities in New South Wales decreased by eight percent to 5.02 million tonnes. Annual production was 20.07 million tonnes in Queensland and 20.19 million tonnes in New South Wales.
In the fiscal year, the company's revenue consisted of 57% coal for metallurgy and 43% from thermal coal. Operations in Queensland reached an average price of 247 Australian dollars per tonne in the fourth quarter, while the corresponding figure for New South Wales was 197 Australian dollars per tonne
