India's Government Research and Technology Mission for Steel Production (SRTMI) and the Swedish research Institute SWERIM have signed an agreement aimed at advancing research and innovation in the steel industry, according to a government statement released on Thursday, August 27.
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) It was signed with the participation of the Ministry of Metallurgy of India and state-owned companies such as Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), iron ore mining company NMDC Limited and Manganese Miner MINE Limited.
According to the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding, cooperation will focus on joint research and development, the exchange of scientific and technical data and knowledge in areas such as decarbonization of steelmaking, closed-loop economics and resource efficiency, advanced and high-tech technologies.- productivity improvement, digital technologies, the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning, as well as capacity building and staff training.
The project aims to combine the capabilities of Indian steel production with the experience of Sweden in the field of advanced metallurgy using environmentally friendly energy, the statement said.
