According to customs statistics, in July of this year, exports of Japanese ferrous scrap amounted to 513,701 thousand tons, which is 16.6% less than 615,634 thousand tons in the same month of the previous year. In the first seven months of this year, the country exported 4.05 million tons of scrap, which is 8.6% less than last year.
During the specified period, Vietnam was the largest importer of Japanese scrap, importing 1.67 million tons, which is 12.9% less compared to the same period last year. Vietnam was followed by Bangladesh and South Korea, which imported 984,731 thousand tons and 655,471 thousand tons of scrap metal, which is 33.4% more and 15.2% less, respectively, year-on-year.
Meanwhile, Japanese scrap metal exports&exports to Thailand totaled 313,260 tons between January and July this year, up from 130,816 tons in the same period last year.
