The Australian Anti-Dumping Commission has announced the launch of an investigation into the persistence of anti-dumping measures against galvanized steel from India, Malaysia and Vietnam. The current measures expire on August 16, 2027. At the same time, the anti-dumping duty does not apply to Vietnamese producers Hoa Sen Group and Nam Kim Steel Joint Stock Company, which are exempt from tax.
During the investigation, launched after the local BlueScope Steel company requested an extension of the anti-dumping measures, the commission will examine the period from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026. The purpose is to determine whether dumping has taken place and whether the factors affecting the amount of the duty have changed. BSL claims that if the measures are lifted, the volume of shipments at dumping prices from the three countries is likely to increase.
The current dumping margin is 12.8% for India and 16.5% for Malaysia.
