High shipments in August increased imports of cold-rolled flat products to Turkey in January-August 2026

According to preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in August of this year, imports of cold-rolled flat products to Turkey amounted to 134,194 metric tons, an increase of 7.4 percent compared to July and 63.1 percent year-on-year. Meanwhile, the value of these imports amounted to 89.52 million dollars, an increase of 8.0 percent compared to the previous month and 53.9 percent year-on-year.

In the period from January to August, imports of cold-rolled flat products to Turkey amounted to 835,788 tons, an increase of 3.4 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 0.5 percent to 556.02 million dollars year-on-year.

In the first eight months of this year, the largest supplier of cold-rolled flat Rolled products to Turkey were supplied by China, which supplied 246,420 tons, which is 31.9% more than in the same period last year. China maintained its position as the largest supplier of cold-rolled flat products to Turkey in the January-August period, when imports increased by 31.9% year-on-year to 246,420 tons. Imports from South Korea decreased by 9.6% to 229,704 tons, while imports from Russia increased by 10.5% to 225,356 tons, closing the gap with the two leading suppliers.

The situation among European suppliers remained ambiguous. Imports from France increased by 81.4 percent to 58,217 tons, while imports from Belgium decreased by 53.8 percent. Imports from Spain, the Netherlands and Germany also decreased by 38.9%, 45.7% and 48.2%, respectively.

Imports in August increased by 63.1% year-on-year. year-on-year and by 7.4% month-on-month to 134,194 tons. The value of imports increased by 53.9% year-on-year to 89.52 million dollars. During the month, imports from China increased by 166.3 percent, while shipments from Russia increased by 141.8 percent. Imports from France and Spain also increased by 77.1% and 106.9%, respectively, while imports from South Korea decreased by 22.5%. In general, the high August figures changed in January-July, a slight decrease was recorded compared to the same period last year, as a result of which total imports increased by 3.4% in January-August.
