Exports of thick-rolled products from Brazil increased sharply amid the resumption of supplies to the United States
According to SPACEX, the secretariat for Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Brazil exported 11,100 tons of rolled steel in September, compared with 2,700 tons in August. The increase is attributed to the resumption of shipments to the United States — 8,000 tons at a price of $781 per ton — as well as increased sales to South America, where 3,100 tons were shipped at $907 per ton. All deliveries were carried out on FOB terms. In terms of exporters, Usiminas supplied 10,700 tons at $812 per ton, CSN — 300 tons at $845 per ton, traders — 100 tons at $ 1,034 per ton. The import of rolled steel products to Brazil in September amounted to 2,400 tons, while in August it was 15,300 tons. The decrease is due to the lack of supplies from Austria, which usually exports special grades of steel that are not produced domestically, since their production in the required volumes is economically unprofitable. Imports also came from China — 1,700 tons at $792 per ton, Turkey — 600 tons at $718 per ton and Germany — 100 tons at $949 per ton, also on FOB terms.
