According to Secex, the secretariat for Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC), Brazil exported 9,500 metric tons of hot-dip galvanized (HDG) products in September, up from 12,900 tons in August.
The decline continues the trend seen since U.S. shipments were suspended in July. In June, Brazil exported 10,900 tons of HDG to the United States.
The entire September volume of HDG exports went to Argentina. ArcelorMittal shipped 6,500 tons at a price of $1,560 per ton, while Usiminas shipped 3,000 tons at a price of $1,180 per ton on FOB terms.
Meanwhile, HDG imports to Brazil rose to 52,200 tons in September from 38,000 tons in August.
Most of the volume came from Asia - 46,800 tons at a price of $697 per ton. Egypt supplied 4,400 tons at a price of $600 per ton, and Europe supplied 1,000 tons at a price of $1,114 per ton, also on FOB terms.
