The Indian company Jindal Ferrous Limited (JFL) has commissioned a comprehensive carbon steel production facility in the eastern state of Odisha, which involves an investment of $527 million, the company said in a statement on Friday, October 16.
The plant includes A steelmaking workshop with a capacity of 2.2 million tons of steel per year has been built, equipped with an integrated sintering plant, an oxygen converter furnace and related infrastructure, the company reports.
"Built with a forward-looking approach in the field of automation systems, the plant was designed to achieve a high level of operational efficiency, making it one of the most modern metallurgical enterprises in the region," the statement said companies..
The company stated that the integrated configuration will help improve resource utilization by recycling metallurgical waste at the sinter plant and using process gases at all stages of production. These measures are expected to provide support for improving work efficiency, reducing waste generation, and improving the use of energy and raw materials.
The blast furnace is equipped with a second-level automation platform with an expert model, a high-pressure operation system and a dry gas purification system. These technologies are designed to increase process stability, optimize furnace performance, and improve operational reliability.
To ensure a fast and efficient start-up, JFL has also entered into a technical cooperation agreement with Japan's JFE Steel Corporation, one of the world's leading steel producers. Her technical know-how and experience in this area will help JFL efficiently produce high-quality steel, the company said.
