Updated global production data for November 2013

The world production of unrefined steel in 65 countries that submitted data from the World Steel Association (WorldSteel) amounted to 127 million tons in November 2013, increasing by 3.6 percent compared to November 2012.

The production of steel in China during November 2013 reached 60.9 million tons, which is 4.2 percent higher compared to November 2012. Other countries of Asia and Japan produced 9.3 million tons of steel in November 2013, increasing by 8.9 percent compared to November 2012. The production of steel in South Korea was 5.6 million tons in November 2013 and decreased by 0.2 percent in relation to November 2012.

In the EU, Germany produced 3.7 million tons of unrefined steel in November 2013, increasing by 5.7 percent compared to November 2012. Italy produced 2.1 million tons of steel, which is 4.5 percent less compared to November 2012. The production of steel in France was 1.3 million tons, increasing by 3.5 percent in relation to November 2012. Spain produced 1.2 million tons of raw steel, which is 15.5 percent higher than November 2012.

The production of unrefined steel of Turkey in November 2013 amounted to 3.1 million tons, which is 3.0 percent above November 2012. In November 2013, 5.5 million tons of steel were produced in Russia, showing a decrease by 0.7 percent compared to the same month of 2012. The production of Ukraine amounted to 2.5 million tons in November 2013, decreasing by 7.9 percent compared to November 2012.

The production of steel in Brazil during November 2013 amounted to 2.7 million tons, which is 2.8 percent lower compared to November 2012. The United States produced 7.1 million tons of raw steel in November 2013, which is 5.3 percent above November 2012.

The level of loading of production capacities of raw steel in 65 countries in November 2013 was 75.8 percent, and this is 0.3 percentage points higher compared to November 2012. However, this is 1.7 percentage points lower than in October 2013.
