This year, Rashtriya Ispat Nigam limited (Rinl) plans to focus on retail sales and sell an additional 1 million tons of steel due to an increase in production.
The Rinl commercial director said that "we hope to sell 1 million tons more in 2014 compared to last year. This will become possible, since we expect production growth up to 4.2 - 4.3 million tons of steel this year against 3 million tons last year." He clarified that Rinl intends to focus on retail sales this year, increasing the average sale in the process of improving its consumer centers, aimed at timely delivery of products to Andra-Pradesh and other southern states.
As for export, the company will continue to increase its leading position in the export of cast iron. The commercial director said that "the company hopes to increase its product range this year in the export market." Binding the growth of steel consumption in this will depend on factors such as restoring the economy in the USA and the eurozone, the growth of demand from China and the probable restoration of the domestic economy.
He added that "there are some green shoots in the domestic economy, along with a surge of demand in agriculture. We hope that the increase in demand for steel should be in the range from 3.8 to 4.2 percent in 2014, and production will be about 5 percent."
