Iran plans to increase the release and export of steel

According to the information provided by Tehran Times, Iran plans to increase the annual production of steel to 55 million tons by the end of the fifth five -year plan, which is included in the country's economic development plan until 2015. Nevertheless, observers believe that the goal defined by the plan is too optimistic for such a country as the Islamic Republic, which is under the heavy oppression of Western economic sanctions regarding its controversial nuclear program. This was reported by the Russian supplier of steel products for shipbuilding Sudosnab .

According to the latest version of the press release of the World Association of Steel Manufacturers, Iran produced 14.071 million tons of unrefined steel in the first 11 months of 2013, which indicates an increase of 6 percent compared to the same period in 2012. The release of unrefined steel in the country amounted to 1.375 million tons in November 2013, increasing by 12.5 percent compared to November 2012, the ISNA official news agency reported.

Tehran Times reports that Iran is also going to liberalize the export of steel products for the period until mid -June 2014 in an attempt to give an incentive to domestic manufacturers. Mohammad-Jafar Sarqini, Deputy Minister of Industry Iran said that there will be no restrictions on the export of metal products and ingots until the end of the Iranian month of the Hordad (June 21).

This decision was made to embody the efforts of the Iranian government to support domestic steel producers. This solution is constructive and is based on the study of the level of consumption and production of domestic metallurgical objects.
