ASEAN expanded the production capacities of steel in 2013

The Association of Southeast Asian countries (ASEAN) is a major importer of steel products. The region does not provide itself with semi -finished products and flat rental, so many new facilities were commissioned or, as expected, will come in the new year.

Vietnam has the largest number of new projects in the region. The most significant projects that were commissioned in the country in 2013 are China Joint Stock Company with a total production capacity of 1.2 million tons. The domestic company Hoa Phat Group commissioned 450,000 tons of rolling capacities for the production of reinforcement and rollery.

Thai Trung Steel Company put into operation a new rolling mill for a long rental with a capacity of 500,000 tons per year. Viet Trung began the production of blanks, Hoabinh Stainess Steel Company introduced a capacity of 100,000 tons of stainless steel.

Malaysia Eastern Steel SDN BHD has become a new joint venture with China with a capacity of 700,000 tons of steel slabs per year.

The Indonesian megaproject steel is PT POSCO Krakatau, a joint venture between PT Krakatau, a state company steel and Posco Korea.
At the Philippines, Steel Asia Manoufacturing Corporation introduced a rolling mill for the production of reinforcement with a capacity of 500,000 tons per year.

In Thailand, two company Japanese commissioned their new plants: JFE STEEL with a zinc line of 400,000 tons per year and Nippon Steel & Sumikin Galvaning with 360,000 tons per year of hot zing sheets.
