As a result of the modernization of the old and the introduction of new equipment, the Mariupol metallurgists managed to reduce natural gas consumption by 1.379 million cubic meters, domain gas by 2.113 million cubic meters, reduce coke consumption by 15.9 thousand tons, and reduce coke gas by 828.43 thousand tons.

In 2014, Azovstal will continue to reduce energy consumption and bring another seven million US dollars to the Metinvest piggy bank.

One of the most promising developments at the Mariupolsky power plant is considered a replacement for natural gas domain. “An increase in the volume of domestic gas consumption on Azovstali will ensure the reconstruction of the second and the repair of the fifth boiler of thermal power center,” the report said.

“We are looking for ways to save energy resources by optimizing their consumption, using new economical technologies. Natural gas still remains the most expensive fuel and directly affects the cost of Azovstal products. Therefore, as last year, we will focus on the maximum decrease in the consumption of blue fuel, but without prejudice to production, ”said Enver Tskitishvili, Director General of PJSC Azovstal MK.
