Beijing prohibits the construction of new oil refining, metallurgy and thermal power plants, as well as the expansion of existing projects, as stated in the latest government software document aimed at combating further air pollution.
A document published on the official website of the Beijing Government on Wednesday reports that the ban will enter into force on March. The software document approved by local legislative bodies last week also refers to the need to reduce the total emissions in the capital of China of the PF 2.5, the key component of air pollution, this year by 5 percent.
Beijing has been under the influence of dangerous smog since January last year, which has been forcing the central government to introduce new strict measures to improve air quality throughout the country. The population uses bottles with traffic jams for storage of clean water reserves. “The city government should improve the system of urban planning and managing the population, ensure the rational distribution of resources, industries and public services, education, and health care to reduce environmental pollution,” the document said
The management obliges the environmental protection department to establish more stringent national standards for emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere and monitoring compliance with these standards. The bill provides for the increase in fines, including vehicles that do not meet the requirements, using the force department of the city leadership. In addition, the mechanism for ensuring the law enforcement, the work of the Department of Environmental Protection and the Judicial Bodies in the initiation of cases is strengthened.
