ArcelorMittal supplies steel for the eighth Wonder of the world

More than 18,000 tons of reinforcing steel produced by ArcelorMittal Annaba in Algeria is currently being used to build the foundation for the 1.2 km viaduct in Constantine, in northeastern Algeria.

Thanks to the seven bridges currently connecting Constantine, which is also known as the "city of bridges", the Trans-Rhumel viaduct, a bridge-type structure being built at the intersection of roads, has already been called the eighth miracle.

About 14,800 tons of steel from the total order volume have already been delivered to the facility, and Brazilian Engineering and Construction company Andrade Gutierrez is scheduled to complete it in March this year.
The cable-stayed bridge will be 80 m above sea level, having a very impressive length of 1119 m. The viaduct will be supported by two pillars with ventilated facades 130 meters high, and will have two lanes with a total width of just over 37 m.

The technical specifications required for the project are extremely stringent, as the construction of the bridge requires a special foundation capable of withstanding potential soil erosion, as well as earthquakes and strong winds. Constantine has been subjected to strong earthquakes in the past and there are problems with soil erosion.

Constantine has a population of 448,374, making it the third largest city in the country after Algiers and Oran. Constantine was chosen as the Capital of Arab Culture in 2015, which will be a great opportunity for visitors to discover this architectural gem, also known as the Independence Bridge.
