According to information provided by the Iron & Steel Institute of Japan (ISIJ), the country's crude steel production reached 110 million tons in 2013.
However, ISIJ expects steel output to be unable to surpass 110 million tonnes in 2014 due to weak demand in the global steel market, which is also plagued by political unrest in some developing countries.
Regarding the ban on the export of nickel ore from Indonesia, ISIJ believes that this will not have an immediate impact, but may subsequently have a serious turnover. ISIJ will continue to pay attention to this issue if these measures are extended to other steel products.
