The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation is very concerned about what is happening in Ukraine today. Russian diplomats are especially irritated by the calls of the opposition leaders to join the militia squads.
“All of this directly contradicts the opposition’s declarations of adherence to democracy and European values. It is perplexing that such provocative steps are being taken immediately after the recent contacts between opposition leaders and representatives of Western states in Munich, ”the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a February 3, 2014 statement.
The Russian Foreign Ministry hopes that the Ukrainian opposition will pay more attention to negotiations with Yanukovych than to voice threats and ultimatums to the current government. According to diplomats, it is necessary to intensify "a dialogue with the authorities in order to get the country out of a deep crisis in the constitutional field."
