According to the report of the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF), the consumption of common grades of steel in 2014 will decrease here to 49 million 180 thousand tons, which is 2.8 percent less than in 2013.
At the same time, the demand for special and alloyed steels in Japan will decline by 2 percent to 12 million 540 thousand tons.
Thus, the JISF believes that the total consumption of steel in Japan will decrease during 2014 by 2.6 percent to 61 million 720 thousand tons.
At the same time, the export of steel from the country will continue to increase, and the total production of rolled metal may exceed 110 million tons at the end of the 2013 fiscal year (until March 2014).
