22 new blast furnaces launched in China in 2013

According to statistics released by the China Iron and Steel Industry Association, a total of 27 blast furnaces went into production in China in 2013, of which 22 furnaces were recently added, and 5 furnaces were overhauled and technologically upgraded.

The 22 new blast furnaces have a total volume of 28,000 cubic meters. The production capacity is about 25 million tons, according to the calculated data. It should be noted that the number of added domains in 2013 is 16 less than in 2012, and the total commissioned capacity in 2013 is 50 percent less than in 2012.

Statistics show that 6 blast furnaces are located in East China, 4 in North and Northwest China, 3 in Southwest and South Central China, and 2 in Northeast China. At the same time, the capacity of 3 blast furnaces launched in South Central China reaches 9347 cubic meters, which is more than 30 percent of the total capacity.

Private enterprises own 15 blast furnaces with a capacity of 14,850 cubic meters, while the state and state holding companies own 7 blast furnaces with a capacity of 13,800 cubic meters. One of the 7 largest furnaces has a capacity of 4,747 cubic meters, and the smallest of them has 1,080 cubic meters. Mostly, the blast furnaces of private enterprises have a capacity of 450 cubic meters, 600 cubic meters, 1080 cubic meters, 1260 cubic meters, 1780 cubic meters.
