From the very beginning of this year, Mariupol suffers from NMU - unfavorable meteorological conditions. So our officials delicately call the prohibitive excess of the standards of air pollution by gases and dust in calm weather.

Today, in a unique bouquet, emissions of large -mammane and car exhausts merged, and the weather only aggravated the situation.

“On the May holidays, a weak eastern wind was established, not allowing gas and dust to leave,” explained Tamara Zenkova, head of the chemical laboratory of the Mariupol meteorological observatory. - The permissible level of pollution is exceeded one and a half times, so a storm warning of the second degree of pollution has been announced.

The emissions directly from the pipes with low smog stretch along the streets, instead of dissipated in the atmosphere. The area of ​​Kirov and Lenin Street, built up by residential skyscrapers, are especially suffering in the lowland. In the eastern wind, the buildings create a kind of corridor in which poisonous gases gather. It is dangerous to open even the window, although closed windows do not save people.

It seems that there is a certain decline in production in a crisis, but it does not affect our environmental situation. And recently, our enterprises have been trying to increase the production of finished products, while pursuing a policy of the most stringent savings. The climate change played the role of a catalyst. For example, unusual, even for our latitudes, summer heat leads to a photochemical reaction, contributing to an increase in the concentration of formaldehyde in the atmosphere. The bright sun has become an enemy of a healthy lifestyle, it is better to go out for a walk on cloud days.

Since the beginning of the year, adverse weather conditions in Mariupol occur every 2-3 days, so even industrial giants began to take measures. For example, on Azovstali these days are trying to carry out planned repair work. Environmental services tightened control, monitoring the most dirty workshops of plants. Officials report a decrease in emissions, but the townspeople still observe a dense smog on the streets.
