Since the beginning of this year, Italy has reduced the import of steel products by 29.7% compared to the same period of 2011. About this with electronic reporting reported by the Federacciai association.
According to the data presented by the Association, the supply of metal rolling to Italy in January - February 2012 amounted to 2.249 million tons compared to 3.2 million tons a year earlier.
At the same time, Italian steel manufacturers in January-March 2012 produced 7.386 million tons of steel, which is 5.7% more compared to the 1st quarter of 2011. According to the results of March of this year, 2.691 million tons of steel were melted at all the Italy’s co-board plants, which is 4.5% more compared to the March of the last year.
As it became known, in February 2012, Italy, compared with February 2011, increased steel production by 7.3%, to 2.484 million tons. According to the results of January-February of the current year, 4.695 million tons of metal were melted here, which is 6.3% more compared to the same period last year.
Recall that Italy in 2011, compared with 2010, increased the exports of steel by 12.1%. According to estimates, foreign supplies of metal amounted to 16.966 million tons last year. At the same time, the export of the rental increased by 13.8%, to 7.376 million tons, and long steel products - by 13%, to 3.488 million tons.
