The fall in the production of steel in the Metinvest group for the first quarter amounted to 8.7%

As you can see from the official report of Metinvest, the metallurgical plants that are part of the group produced 3.296 million tons of steel in the first quarter of 2012, which is 8.7% less than in January-March 2011.

According to cast iron, the situation is slightly better, there the fall amounted to 4.8%, a total of 2.866 million tons were produced. “The decline in the production of cast iron led to a total decrease in production of steel by 8.7%, to the level of 3.296 million tons mainly due to the reduction in production at the Azovstal MK. At the same time, at the Enakievsky Metallurgical Plant, the increase in production production of steel within 1 quarter of 2012 in relation to the same period last year amounted to 20.2% due to the commissioning of the new domain furnace No. 3, ”the report said.

According to Metinvest experts, the decline in production steel in the first quarter of 2012 is associated with a significant weakening of demand in the metal distribution market.
