Growth of stainless steel consumption in Ukraine

The growth of stainless steel consumption in Ukraine is growing every day. However, despite this, production still cannot satisfy consumer requests and you have to order products abroad. It is also worth noting that so far still metallurgy of our country in this segment is very far behind most developed countries. First of all, by experts, such a lag is due to the low rates of industry development.

The domestic production of stainless steel in our country is estimated at 60-70 thousand tons per year. According to some forecasts, it is calculated that this indicator will increase slightly in 2013 and will be about 80-90 tons. Moreover, our manufacturers will have to try and make Ukrainian metal better and more affordable, since the market is currently acute competition. Another of the problems that specialists are distinguished is the state standard. Most manufacturers make products according to GOST, and not according to international standards DIN and ASTM. It is expected that in the near future leading enterprises will be able to produce products using new technologies and acquire new customers.

As for imports, stainless steel produced in Ukraine is still in a small, but stable growing demand. So in 2011, about 23 thousand tons of metal were imported, by the end of 2012 an indicator of 24-27 tons was expected. A large role in the growth of imports should be noted in the use of foreign equipment and higher quality products produced on it.
