The decision on the decommissioning of the coke battery No. 5 at the Azovstal plant is fully consistent with the development strategy of metallurgical enterprises of the Metinvest group in Mariupol to reduce environmental impact.
According to the Press Center of Metinvest, the shutdown of the battery will lead to a decrease in the number of emissions into the atmosphere of the city by 3 thousand tons per year.
The planned stop of the coke battery No. 5 was made in accordance with the developed technical measures providing for the safe conduct of work on stopping metallurgical units.
The drop in production volumes at the Azovstal plant will allow you to disable two more outdated cokes -chemical batteries No. 6 and 7, which the group of Metinvest promises to do before the end of 2015. Azovstal will receive the missing volume of coke from other enterprises of the group.
The released personnel of the Koksochemista was distributed to other workshops of the plant.
