Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Plant saves energy resources

The decision to save energy on the Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Plant has long been made. After the opening of a new complex for the production of food packages, containers, dishes made of aluminum foil, which are designed for storage, freezing, cooking and heating foods in a microwave and ordinary furnace, energy consumption increased. The new complex will open the plant wide possibilities for making a profit, since food packaging is an indispensable thing in modern life. Therefore, the decision to reduce energy costs had a serious basis.

Yesterday, the plant summed up the first results of the implementation of measures to reduce energy resources in all departments of the plant and structures of the MMK group for the last six months. Each year, the Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Plant OJSC implements a program of measures, the purpose of which is to reduce the consumption of the country's energy resources-fuel, electricity, technical and fire water water, air separation, and thermal energy. According to a group that was specially created to study the results of the energy saving program, all the events planned at the beginning of this year were performed or very close to execution.

Most of these measures were aimed at reducing electricity costs. According to the group’s forecasts, a new set of measures taken in the first half of this year, should bring the plant to the plant’s savings (per year) of about 3831 million kWh in the amount of up to 13 million rubles. And this is already comparable with last year’s similar indicators of energy saving in the plant. Nevertheless, the result of the implementation of the necessary measures for saving energy resources at the Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Plant over the winter of 2012 was the savings of more than 148 thousand m3 of compressed air and air separation products, 3 thousand tons of conditional fuel, 1148 Gcal of heat energy, 618 thousand m3 of technical water and about11 thousand m3 of drinking water. The amount of this saved electricity would be enough for the average family for a millennium.
