The production of galvanized steel at the Ilyich plant will be suspended in July 2012. The production stops as a result of low demand for galvanizing by Russian consumers. This is the official version of what is happening. But, according to some experts, such a strange decrease in the production volume of a galvanized sheet, and precisely in the season of high demand, speaks of the failure of the Sales policy of the Metinvest group.

As you know, the entire galvanizing on the Ilyich MMK is offered on the market exclusively through the sales channels of the Metinvest group and no one is allowed to buy directly from the manufacturer. Most likely, the loss of consumer interest in Ukrainian galvanizing can be associated with serious difficulties in placing an order for it. It is much easier for the Russian consumer to purchase at the lipetsk Impress or even in China.

The alleged stop at first will affect the unit of continuous zing No. 1, and subsequently can stop the latter - No. 2. The planned supply volume in July in the month of the Ukrainian market is 10 thousand tons, and for export 5 thousand tons.

Recall that even during the notorious crisis of 2008, the Ilyich plant did not stop any production. The only production was stopped after entering the plant into the Metinvest Stan 4500 group - producing a scarce sheet with a thickness of higher than 100mm and weighing up to 25 tons.

Now to buy corrugated board in Kyiv or Donetsk will probably be more difficult and almost guaranteed more expensive.
