The latest statistics released by the US Department of Commerce (DOC) indicate that the country's nickel scrap exports fell sharply by a third in December last year from the previous month. However, the average export price of nickel scrap increased during the month.
The aggregate export of nickel scrap in the country during the entire 2015 amounted to 27,097 tons, which is significantly lower compared to the previous year. Nickel scrap exports fell 11 percent from 30,446 tonnes during 2014.
Exports of nickel scrap in December 2015 amounted to 2,062 tons, which is significantly lower, by more than 32 percent, compared to exports during November. Exports of scrap nickel in the country in November last year amounted to 3066 tons.
Export prices for U.S. nickel scrap increased nearly 8 percent year-on-year to $ 3,868.16 a tonne in December 2015.
