Meta enterprises of Ukraine on the verge of stopping

The metallurgical enterprises of Ukraine are currently experiencing significant difficulties with the sale of metal products, as well as problems with the provision of coke and iron ore raw materials (ZhRS), which forces them to reduce production volumes, up to the stop of the units.

“Some enterprises are on the verge of stopping,” the general director of the Association of Metallurgical Enterprises of Metallurgprom (Dnepropetrovsk) Vasily Kharahulakh told the Interfax -Ukraine agency.

According to him, despite the decrease in the production of metal products, the coke deficit is observed in Ukraine.

“As of today, incomplete cox provision is 67 thousand tons,” the agency’s interlocutor noted, adding that the import of coking coal from Russia also decreased due to the accident at the Razdadskaya mine.

Speaking about unstable provision of met enterprises with iron ore raw materials, V. Kharahulah explained that the reason for this is economic expediency. According to him, the met enterprises are interested in the ZhRS with a high iron content, while Ukrainian raw materials are of lower quality. "The disagreement in assessments of the cost of the ZHR is the cause of interruptions in supplies, mainly on Zaporizhstal and MMK named after Ilyich," he said.

“Since the beginning of the year, the industry has been working in general, and according to the results of the current month, the situation will aggravate even more,” the CEO of Metallurgprom is convinced.

According to him, the deficit of working capital at met enterprises is 18 billion UAH, in the most difficult situation - Zaporizhstal, MMK named after Ilyich, "Arcelor Mittal Kryvyi Rih", Dnieper Metzavod. Petrovsky, "Dniproospetsstal" and others.
