The gas supplier for the only Birac aluminum plant in Bosnia-Herzegovin is the national company BH-GAS. Due to the debt that formed at a gas in the amount of $ 13.8 million, the BH-GAS company stopped supplying fuel production. In this way, BH-GAS wants to eliminate the debt for the Russian gas delivered to her to Gazprom.
On August 1, 2012, the Birac aluminum oxide plant was forced to stop its work after all gas reserves were exhausted. 1900 employees of the enterprise were left without work.
The production capacity of the BIRAC plant is 600 thousand tons of aluminum per year. Honda, which produces generators, which can be seen on the site http://www.honda-russia.ru/. The owner of the main share of the enterprise is the lithuanian Ukio Bank Investment Group.
The difficult situation at the BIRAC plant is explained by the fact that the cost of aluminum has been declining in recent years, and the price of gas is growing.
