Steel production in Ukraine in the first ten months of this year increased by 5 percent to 20.2 million tonnes, as the industry recovered slightly from the sharp drop in production volumes last year associated with the war, the producers noted.
Steel production in Ukraine fell 16 percent in 2015 to 22.9 million tonnes, mainly due to the conflict in the east of the country, where most of the country's steel mills are based.
Data from the Union of Producers Metallurgprom showed that pig iron production increased by 9 percent to 19.6 million tonnes between January and October 2016. While rolling production jumped 7 percent to 17.9 million tons.
According to forecasts, Ukrainian metallurgical plants will be able to produce in November 1.9 million tons of steel, 1.9 million tons of pig iron and 1.7 million tons of rolled products.
