KazakhMys is the largest copper manufacturer not only in Kazakhstan, but also at the global level. It includes ten mining and processing enterprises and two plants specializing in copper smelting.
According to the mining and metallurgical concern, 136.1 thousand tons of copper were produced in the first half of 2012. Over the same period of 2011, 153 thousand tons of copper were produced, which indicates a reduction in production by 11% this year.
This state of affairs led to a decrease in KazakhMys revenue by 1.5 billion dollars for the reporting period. In the second half of 2012, the company intends to prevent a decrease in the volume of production and sales of copper. Already in the second quarter, KazakhMys increased production by 9% compared to the first quarter.
