Indonesia's Industry Ministry said Indonesia contains rich reserves of nickel, but the government has banned the export of ore, so huge investments are being made to build factories to produce stainless steel products.
The two large factories plan to smelt 5 million tonnes of stainless steel in 2017, which means Indonesia will become the second largest stainless steel producer in the world.
