Chinese officials close the metrotage plants with a capacity of less than one million tons of steel per year

According to the Sinhua information agency, metallurgical plants with a capacity of less than one million tons of smelted steel per year will be disabled in the near future. This decision was made by the China government in the framework of the program for "normalizing the activities of metallurgical enterprises." The corresponding decision of the Ministry of Industry and Informatization of the PRC was published on September 3, 2012.

The new standards of the government will allow to continue the work of enterprises that in 2010 melted more than one million tons of unrefined steel, as well as those factories where more than 300 thousand tons of special studies were produced by the results of 2010, of which more than 60% of alloyed steel. The government’s decision also limits the operation of small blast furnaces, with a volume of less than 400 m3.

Particular attention of the Ministry will be paid to the issues of compliance with the requirements of the field of product quality, environmental protection, energy costs and integrated use of resources, technologies and equipment, scale and safety of production, sanitary and public responsibility.
