Brazilian miner Vale SA reports that the company produced a record 349 million tonnes of iron ore in 2016. Successful expansion of capacity at S11D's new mine in the Amazon Basin helped to achieve this high performance.
The world's largest iron ore producer says production is at the upper end of the planned range of 340-350 million tonnes. Vale said it produced 92.4 million tonnes of iron ore in the fourth quarter of 2016.
