Turkish steel production rises in January

Turkey's steel production increased 12.8% in January compared to the same period in 2016 and 3.3% compared to the previous month, according to the Metallurgical Association of Manufacturers (TCUD). The steelmaking capacity of electric furnaces increased by 13.9% compared to the same period in 2016.

At the same time, Turkish billet production amounted to 1.97 million tonnes, an increase of 3.6% compared to the same period in 2016. Board production rose to 955,000 tonnes, up 38.2% over the same period last year.
