For the first time in nearly 60 years, the United States has become a net exporter of natural gas. So far, the country has imported more raw materials than it has exported. The situation changed in the current month.
The United States exported 210 million cubic meters of gas a day (at the end of last week) and imported 198 million cubic meters a day, according to American media.
True, a similar situation also takes place during several days of September, but during the whole month the USA was a net importer. Now it looks like this is a constant trend, and the US will export more gas than it will import.
Why did the change take place?
This is the effect of the US shale boom. The start of hydraulic fracturing gas extraction led the United States to quickly become a major gas producer. Surplus raw materials can now be exported. Changes in laws make it easier to export gas such as LNG to many countries around the world.
