Preferences data from Ukrainian electrometallurgical plants may be canceled

On September 18, a meeting was held on the development of domestic electrometallurgical enterprises, chaired by Prime Minister of Ukraine Nikolai Azarov.

“Today we are gathered to discuss key issues of the development of electrometallurgical enterprises,” the Prime Minister began with such words. In modern conditions that have developed in foreign markets, during the recession of the world economy, the government becomes especially important to ensure the uninterrupted operation of enterprises, their competitiveness and preservation of labor collectives.

"Thousands of people work in the industry, and the products of these enterprises are the basis of modern metallurgical production of priority sectors of the Ukrainian economy: special steel for the atomic, space, chemical industry," said Nikolai Azarov. Electrometallurgical plants of Ukraine are required to comply with the implementation of social and investment obligations.

But, as it was recently reported, the leadership of the Zaporizhzhya Dneprospstets was notified by the trade unions of the electrometallurgical plant of the planned reduction of 25% of the labor collective in October 2012.

Probably, this is exactly what the Prime Minister had in mind when he informed the factories present at the meeting that the preferences provided today in the form of preferential tariffs for electrometallurgical enterprises of Ukraine should take into account the interests of not only business, but also the state and labor collectives.

According to Mr. Azarov, it is necessary to verify the fulfillment of the obligations of the owners of enterprises, primarily on the implementation of energy conservation and energy efficiency, investment investments in the modernization of production.
