Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, who is a candidate for the position of Rosneft, may even head the board (board of directors) of an oil company.
The newspaper "Kommersant" refers to the draft directive of the Government of the Russian Federation on this issue. In the explanatory note, it is written that Schroeder is an authoritative politician at the world level, and consistently promotes strategic cooperation between Germany and Russia in the energy sector.
German media reported in mid-August that Schroeder was a candidate for a position in the Rosneft government. The final decision on this issue should be made at the meeting of shareholders on September 29.
The former chancellor is now chairman of the shareholder committee of Nord Stream, which built a gas pipeline from Russia to Germany along the bottom of the Baltic Sea, and Nord Stream 2 performs the same function, planning to build the second part of this pipeline.
Kommersant notes that Rosneft's board of directors will be expanded to 11 persons, including representatives of new shareholders: the Qatar company Glencore and the Qatar Foundation. Schroeder is well received by foreign investors.
