Chinese authorities sent rescuers to rescue miners trapped after a coal mine accident in eastern Shandong province late Saturday, according to Chinese state media.
An explosion Saturday night destroyed part of a drainage tunnel at a coal mine, killing two and capturing another 20 workers, the official Xinhua news agency reported. Xinhua separately posted on its official social media pages the details of the miner who was rescued earlier Sunday.
The cause of the accident was still under investigation, Xinhua said, adding that hazardous conditions at the mine are hampering rescue efforts. Xinhua said there are over 170 rescuers working at the location.
