Brazilian CSP Continues To Increase Its Heavy Plate Exports In October

Plate production at Brazilian Companhia Siderúrgica do Pecém (CSP) recorded a new record volume for 2018, reaching 284,620 tonnes in October, according to data released by the company.

CSP plates were exported during this period to countries such as Czech Republic, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Morocco, United Kingdom and Taiwan.

CSP is the fourth largest steelmaker in Brazil. The company is a joint venture between Vale (50%) and South Korean companies Dongkuk (30%) and Posco (20%).

Deliveries of BSP slabs abroad also increased by 15.4% year-on-year to 2.48 million tonnes by November. The main destination for steel supplies for the metallurgical company from the start of operation on August 15, 2016 until the end of October 2018 was the United States, which bought 1.35 million tons in total. Mexico was the second largest importer of CSP with 921,395 tonnes, followed by Turkey and South Korea with 860,462 tonnes and 401.601 tonnes respectively.
