In May 2019, industrial production increased by 1.6% against the same period last year. This was reported by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine on its Facebook page.
The following industries showed the best dynamics:
production of chemicals + 6.7%
metallurgical production + 6.5%
mining industry + 4.6%
production of food products, beverages and tobacco products + 3.7%
production of pharmaceutical products and drugs + 3.4%
production of coke and petroleum products + 2.7%
processing industry + 0.7%.
According to experts, the positive trend in the development of the industry will continue. First of all, thanks to the mining and processing industries in the context of high investment activity and growing demand.
Industrial production of the Donetsk region (excluding part of the temporarily occupied territory) in January-May 2019 compared to January-May 2018 increased by 4.2%. In May, production was 0.6% more than in May 2018, but 7.8% less than in April 2019.
Pig iron smelting in January-May 2019 amounted to 3.5 million tons, which is 3.4% less than in the corresponding period of the previous year. Steel production, having also amounted to 3.5 million tons, increased by 4.8% compared to January-May 2018. The output of hot-rolled flat products in January-May 2019 increased by 9.1% compared to January-May of the previous year, cold-rolled products - by 4.1%.
