Splitting the level of steel production between Asia and the rest of the world

Steel production fell 0.9 percent last year. However, this is the average for the countries of the world. In the European Union, the decline exceeded 11%, and in the USA - 17%. At the same time, China increased production by more than 5 percent. China, India and Japan are invariably among the world's largest manufacturers.
Vietnam has increased its steel production by one-fifth as it was one of the few countries last year.

At the same time, the following trend is observed: countries in which the metallurgy has been developing in recent years are growing despite the pandemic.

In the most industrialized countries, production losses were in double digits.

According to the latest data from the World Steel Association, 1.864 billion tons of steel were produced in the world last year, which means a decrease of 0.9% compared to 2019. Of course, we still have a continental divide between Asia and the rest of the world. Asia increased steel production by 1.5%, with China becoming the main driver of 1.053 billion tonnes, up 5.2%.
