Turkey produced approximately 3.2 million tonnes of crude steel in May, up 42.4% from the same month last year, according to the Turkish Iron and Steel Association (TCUD).
During this period, Turkey exported about 1.7 million tons and imported 1.5 million tons of steel products, an increase of 53.7% and 95.2% year on year, respectively. The value of exports and imports was about US $ 1.3 billion, an increase of 134.4% and 162.6% year on year, respectively.
In the first five months, Turkey produced about 16.4 million tons of crude steel, which is 21.2% more than in the same period a year ago. During this period, Turkey ranked 8th in the production of crude steel in the world.
