Rinat Akhmetov's Metinvest will donate 900 tons of steel for the manufacture of body armor for the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Metinvest Group of Rinat Akhmetov and Vadim Novinsky will donate 900 tons of steel, which will be enough to produce about 80,000 body armor for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and terrorist defense. This was reported in the press service of the group on Friday, April 14.

Another 10,000 bulletproof vests were purchased by Metinvest abroad as part of the purchase of ready-made protective equipment. Thus, the company of Akhmetov and Novinsky will transfer about 90,000 bulletproof vests to the armed forces of Ukraine, which covers a significant part of the needs of the military. Metinvest also purchases large quantities of thermal imagers, helmets, first aid kits, medical tourniquets and tourniquets with Metinvest's money.

According to the press service of Metinvest, 250 tons of material have already been transferred to companies specializing in the processing of armored steel. Steel is partly produced at the enterprises of the Metinvest Group, partly purchased in Ukraine and abroad. Metinvest provides all rolled metal free of charge to enterprises certified for the production of bulletproof vests. In the future, they are distributed to units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and territorial defense.

“We help Ukraine, the Ukrainian army to protect the sovereignty of our country and win, and the Ukrainians to survive and survive,” Rinat Akhmetov said.

Metinvest-SMC was the first in Ukraine to systematically import steel for armor plates, and work was established with a number of manufacturers in Europe and Turkey. The company has already transferred more than 200 tons of different grades of foreign-made ballistic steel for the production of body armor plates. The total volume of imported steel under current contracts will be more than 600 tons.
