Liberty Steel wins tender to acquire Dunaferr

Liberty Steel, through its subsidiary Liberty Steel Central Europe Kft, is set to acquire bankrupt Hungarian steelmaker Dunafrr for 55 million euros.

The Dunaferra coke plant was ordered to close last December, but Liberty sent coal trains from Elk Creek in the US, CSM in the Czech Republic and Hale Creek in Australia to Dunaferra to keep the coke ovens running and won a three-month contract. an asset management agreement that expired at the end of June.

Liberty reported that since Dunaferr joined the Liberty Group, the upstream and downstream business has become more closely linked to the downstream business, leading to positive results.
